Silethos (シレトス, Shiretosu) is a Fanged Wyvern.
Silethos has a burgundy-colored pelt with orange rosettes across its body. Its legs and underbelly are covered in cream-colored scales. Silethos sports very pronounced, gray rock-like claws and fangs. Silethos seem to lack lips so the creature's fangs are always visible and bared.
Silethos are well known for their claws and fangs which are very similar to flints. It can strike its teeth together and its claws against the ground to light its feet and jaws on fire. This allows it to deliver brutal attacks that both slice and burn both prey and predators.
Silethos are lone wolves, as they tend to live by themselves unless mating. Surprisingly, Silethos have good parental instincts.
Silethos tend to inhabit forested areas such as the Forest and Hills, Great Forest, Primal Forest, and the Jungle.
Fanged wyverns with special claws that are used to light their feet and jaws on fire. Using their flaming claws and teeth combined with powerful muscular limbs, they can unleash painful, blistering strikes.

Silethos is a monster belonging to the Fanged Wyvern class. Originally unknown to the Guild, they recently began appearing in forested areas. Being a Fanged Wyvern it's a distant relative to Zinogre and its Subspecies Stygian Zinogre.
In the Old World, Silethos inhabit the Ancestral Steppe, Gorge, Great Forest, Heaven's Mount, Highland, Jurassic Frontier, and Verdant Hills.
Interestingly, Silethos is an invasive species that only recently began to appear in the aforementioned areas. Where they originate from is unknown.
Regardless of what area it's in, Silethos assert themselves as one of the top predators. It feeds on a variety of Herbivores such as Aptonoth, Kelbi, Mosswine, and Slagtoth. Lesser monsters like Bullfango, Velociprey, Ludroth, and Hermitaur are also preyed upon by these Wyverns. When given the chance, they will even attempt to go for monsters like Hypnocatrice, Royal Ludroth, Yian Kut-ku, Arzuros, and Velocidrome. However, they also have to compete with equally powerful beasts such as Rathalos, Rathian, Lagiacrus, Tigrex, Najarala, Nargacuga, and some Elder Dragons. Even than, these monsters will think twice about confronting a Silethos.
The average size of an adult Silethos is 1790.5 cm. Silethos's body structure and posture strongly resemble big cats such as leopards and jaguars. Its short yet muscular legs grant it amazing speed and agility. Its sharp claws allow for deadly blows against prey, predators, and hunters. These claws also allow for maneuverability on uneven terrain. The jaws of Silethos are able to crush the bones of prey and tear off chunks of flesh. Silethos's most well-known trait are their flint-like claws and teeth. When the claws strike the ground and the jaws bite down, flames form around the creature's feet and jaws. When it does so, sparks make contact with very fine, thin fur that catch fire when the flints are struck. Their scaly hide is very fire resistant to prevent the monster from burning itself.
Silethos are lone wolves, as they tend to live by themselves unless mating. Surprisingly, Silethos have good parental instincts. Males will create dens to attract females and mate with them. Afterwards, females will stay in the den to protect her young while males go out to hunt for both his mate and his young. Both will viciously attack any monster that encroach their territory to protect their den, their young, and each other.
Silethos also appear to be daredevils, boldly taking on powerful monsters such as Rajang, Deviljho, and Elder Dragons, either looking to usurp territory to expand their own or just to look for a fight.
- Silethos's name comes from the Latin word silex, meaning flint, and the Greek word lithos, meaning stone.
- Silethos and its Subspecies shares similarities with Naco Agul from the Monster Hunter Orage manga.
- The claws on all four limbs can be broken, as can its teeth.
- Breaking them will cause its fire to extinguish faster.
- A Water Element weapon will cause the flames on its claws and fangs to extinguish faster.
- When entering Rage Mode, it will set fire to its claws and fangs.
- When low on stamina, Silethos will prey on Gargwa, Slagoth, Aptonoth or feed on carcasses or bone piles depending on where it's fought.
- Any flames on its claws and/or fangs will extinguish immediately should be fatigued.
- Silethos's roar requires Earplugs to block.
