Pelornis (チキトリス, Chikitorisu) is a Brute Wyvern.

Pelornis is a large Brute Wyvern that shares similarities with Bird Wyverns. Its body is mostly covered in white plumage, with a dark gray back. It has a large, fleshy, W-shaped crest on its head and very thick, powerful, red-tipped yellow bill. There is a teardrop-shaped wattle on each side of its bill. Its legs are scaly and dark yellow in color, with clawed anisodactyl feet (three toes in front and one in back 1). The second digit on each foot sports a relatively large, sickle-shaped claw. Its tail is long and covered in mottled-brown plumage. The tail tip is spherical and covered in long spurs. Unlike most Brute Wyverns, Pelornis sports developed forelimbs with large "hands" with three strongly curved claws. A fourth dewclaw is present on each hand.

Pelornis is an agile, nimble Brute Wyvern. Its main weapons its its claws, which are incredibly sharp and can tear through the flesh of prey very easily. Pelornis's beak is also a dangerous weapon that can impale prey and rip off chunks of flesh. More spurs are located on its tail, which is used like a mace. The feathers are sharp as well; once detached from its body, they essentially become quills. Pelornis can launch its feathers like darts as prey, akin to a Nargacuga flinging spikes from its tail or a Seregios shooting its scales.

Pelornis are gregarious creatures and live together in flocks of up to 10 individuals. The flock is usually led by an alpha male, although some flocks have been found with a female leader. They communicate via loud, shrill calls that signal food, danger, and territorial disputes.

Pelornis are known to inhabit the Misty Peaks and Ancestral Steppe.

  • Pelornis is based off the cockatrice. It also shares some traits with chickens.
  • Its head can be broken twice, each arm and leg can be broken, and its tail can be severed.
  • When low on stamina, Pelornis will lose its balance and fall after certain attacks. It will eat from seed and berry gathering spots to recover stamina.
  • Pelornis's roar requires HG Earplugs to block.
