Norberus (ノルベロス, Noruberosu) is a Fanged Beast.
Norberus is a large, canine monster with pitch black fur covering its body. It most closely resembles a monstrous mastiff or Rottweiler. There are two white bone-like bands on each of its ankles, and one around its neck. Its has a long, bony tail resembling its spine with a triangular tip and three clawed toes on each paw. Its eyes, claws, teeth, and nose are crimson in color, as are the insides of its pointed ears.
Norberus is a powerful monster that produces flames in the form of a stream of ignited flammable liquid. The claws on its paws can easily tear through the armored hides of prey while its powerful jaws and sharp teeth can crush bone.
Norberus are generally solitary, aloof creatures, but will form temporary hunting packs of three to five or just hunt solo. Norberus are highly aggressive and do not tolerate other monsters encroaching upon their territory.
Norberus inhabit a wide range of areas including the Ancestral Steppe, Deserted Island, Great Forest, Heaven's Mount, Jurassic Frontier, Marshlands, Sunken Hollow, Volcano, and the Volcanic Hollow.

Norberus are dog-like Fanged Beasts.
Norberus of the Old World inhabit the Ancestral Steppe, Great Forest, Heaven's Mount, Jurassic Frontier, Marshlands, Sunken Hollow, Verdant Hills, Volcano, and the Volcanic Hollow. New World Norberus are seen inhabiting the Deserted Island and Volcano (3rd Gen).
Norberus, being incredibly powerful and highly adapted monsters, are high in the food chain. They feed on herbivores like Kelbi and Aptonoth, and lesser predators like Velociprey and Jaggi. While being powerful predators themselves Norberus compete with other fearsome creatures such as Rathalos, Rathian, Astalos, Tigrex, Zinogre, Seregios, Plesioth, Lavasioth, Espinas, Gore Magala, Najarala, Lagiacrus, Agnaktor, Glavenus, Brachydios, and Deviljho. While these predators are capable of taking down a lone Norberus, they have no chance against a pack of them.
Norberus is covered in black fur so that they can camouflage with the darkness of heavily forested areas. They have excellent senses, allowing them to detect prey or predators from a distance. Their famed fire breath is produced by mixing digestive fluids with a special oily substance in a flame sac. This mixture is then heated to ignition temperature, creating the monster's fiery breathe. The fact that Norberus's fire breath is colored green indicates the presence of borax, boric acid, or copper (II) sulfate within its body.
Norberus are generally solitary, aloof creatures, but will form temporary hunting packs of three to five or just hunt solo. These packs may consist of the same individuals from a previous pack or different individuals. Once a pack is formed, they will search for a group of prey and "herd" it, backing it against a wall or corner by biting at them or breathing flames. Once that has been accomplished they roast the herd alive with their flame breath and feast on the cooked remains and disband the pack. Norberus are highly aggressive and do not tolerate other monsters encroaching upon their territory.
