Changes made to Old Monsters

Neopterons

  • Seltas shares the MH4 Alpha Raptor theme with Velocidrome, Gendrome, Iodrome, and Giadrome.
  • Seltas Queen always breaks down high structures when charging into them.
  • Vespoid Queen now has a more interesting fight.
    • She no longer uses the same attack spamming method over and over again.
    • She now can call nearby Vespoids to her aid when fighting.
    • She now can shoot pheromones that inflict the hunter with Soiled.

Temnocerans

  • Nerscylla is now weak to Dragon as well as Fire (and Thunder when its Gypceros skin is off).
  • Akura Vashimu/Akura Jebia has undergone a few changes
    • It has gotten a design change similar to Rathalos, Rathian, Diablos, and Aptonoth; it now has new, more natural-looking claws and extendable, claw-like chelicerae on its face.
    • It gains a bite attack where it extends out its chelicerae in order to snap at a hunter.
    • It gains a pin attack where it grabs a hunter with its claws, right before repeatedly picking at him/her and smashing him/her with its tail. If the pin attack is successful, it will throw its victim a few meters away from it before shooting him/her with its crystal beam.
    • It is now weak to Dragon.

Carapaceons

  • Daimyo Hermitaur and its Hermitaur young can now walk underwater.
  • Daimyo Hermitaur now minds its own business unless hit.
  • Shogun Ceanataur and its Ceanataur young can now walk underwater.
  • Shogun Ceanataur and its Ceanataur young now mind their own business unless hit.
  • Shen Gaoren now has a more interesting fight.
    • If hunters are in its way, it will rear up and smash down or use its claws to snap at hunters.
    • Eventually, it will reach a zone where it fights like a regular monster, using claw snaps, acid balls, stomps, rearing attacks, and even water beams to deal with foes.

Fanged Beasts

  • Blangonga and Congalala are now weak to Dragon as well as Fire.
  • Copper Blangonga now uses the Earth Element
  • Rajang always breaks down high structures with its physical attacks.
  • Rajang is now weak to Dragon as well as Ice.
  • Kecha Wacha is no longer weak to Fire, now being weak to Thunder and Dragon.
  • The MHP3 Fanged Beast theme only plays for Arzuros, Lagombi, and Volvidon.

Piscine Wyverns

  • All Piscine Wyverns now have a spinning attack.
  • Cephalos and Delex now use the Earth element as well as the Water Element.
  • Cephadrome can now command its minions to help it fight.
  • Cephadrome is now more ferocious than ever.
  • Cephadrome now uses the Earth element as well as the Water Element.

Bird Wyverns

  • All Bird Wyverns now have a spinning attack.
  • Giadrome has undergone the same changes all the other Dromes have undergone.
  • The Dromes are now more ferocious than ever.
  • The Dromes have undergone a design change similar to Rathalos, Rathian, Diablos, Aptonoth, and Akura Vashimu.
    • Velocidrome now looks like this drawing (credits to Richard Hein).
  • The MH3 Alpha Raptor theme only plays for Great Jaggi and Great Baggi.
  • The MH4 Alpha Raptor theme only plays for Velocidrome, Gendrome, Iodrome, Giadrome, and Seltas.
  • Velocidrome is no longer weak to Ice, now being weak to Thunder and Dragon.
  • Gendrome is no longer weak to Water, now being weak to Ice and Dragon.
  • Iodrome is now weak to Dragon as well as Thunder.
  • Giadrome is now weak to Dragon as well as Fire.
  • Great Jaggi and Great Baggi are now weak to Dragon as well as Fire.
  • Yian Kut-Ku, Gypceros, and Hypnocatrice now mind their own business unless hit.
  • Gypceros is now weak to Dragon as well as Fire.
  • Hypnocatrice gains an attack where it does a few dance-like stomps while shooting sleep spit all over the place.
  • Yian Garuga can now run while doing its famed Sonic Roar attack.
  • Yian Garuga is now weak to Dragon as well as Water.
  • Qurupeco/Crimson Qurupeco can now dive in the water pelican-style when fighting hunters above the surface of an aquatic environment.
  • Qurupeco now has a different roar for calling Tigrex.

Flying Wyverns

  • All Flying Wyverns now have a spinning attack.
  • Rathian and Rathalos have received a few changes.
    • They could now break down high structures by hitting them with a fireball.
      • They can use that ability to get down hunters who were previously standing on high structures.
    • They now cooperatively fight hunters whenever they're near each other.
    • As well as this, whenever a nearby Rathian/Rathalos gets killed, the other Rathian/Rathalos will enter a permanent Rage Mode.
  • When Monoblos and Diablos charge into high structures in rage mode, they will break it down instead of ledging themselves/burrowing into it.
  • Espinas gains an attack where it jumps into the air, shoots 3 successive poisonous fireballs, and smashes into a hunter with its horn.
  • Berukyurosu now spends a little more of its time in the air.
  • Berukyurosu/Doragyurosu gains an attack where it backflips into the air, does a loop, soars overhead while spinning around (hitting any hunters below it with its tentacles), turns around, releases a lightning/draconic energy discharge, and lands.
  • Doragyurosu gains an attack where it takes off, soars around the map, and descends to release a draconic energy discharge before flying back up at least 3 times in a row before landing.
  • Gurenzeburu gains an attack where it charges before leaping into the air, flying back while shooting 3 balls of water, and smashing down onto the ground.
  • Espinas, Berukyurosu, and Gurenzeburu have undergone a design change similar to Rathalos, Rathian, Diablos, Aptonoth, Akura Vashimu, and the Dromes.
    • They now have better wings, better feet, and improved faces.
    • Berukyurosu's tentacles now glide more elegantly when the Wyvern is flying.
  • Unknown (Black Flying Wyvern) now has a similar design to the 3rd Gen Rath Wyverns.
  • Unknown (Black Flying Wyvern) is now capable of doing a more dangerous version Rathalos' "Around the World in 80 days" attack, as well as a pin attack similar to the regular Rathian.
  • Unknown (Black Flying Wyvern) now uses the Wind Element as well as the Fire Element.
  • Tigrex gains a few new changes.
    • It has received a slight model change; it now has better, more reptilian feet.
    • It can break down high structures by jumping or spinning into them.
    • It gains an attack where it uses its claws to swipe at a hunter.
    • It gains a pin attack where it presses a hunter down with its hand, right before biting at him/her. If the pin attack is successful, it will roar loudly and knock its victim back.
  • Tigrex is no longer weak to Dragon, now being weak to Water and Thunder.
  • Nargacuga receives a few new changes.
    • It has received a slight model change; it now has better, more reptilian feet.
    • It can now jump up walls in a ninja-esque manner.
    • It gains its wing-slash attack from Frontier.
    • It is no longer weak to Fire, now being weak to Thunder and Dragon.
  • Barioth now uses the Wind Element (along with its Ice element).
    • This also applies to its subspecies.
  • Barioth is no longer weak to Thunder, now being weak to Fire and Dragon.
  • Gigginox is now weak to Dragon as well as Fire.
  • Dyuragaua has undergone a design change similar to Rathalos, Rathian, Diablos, Aptonoth, Akura Vashimu, the Dromes, Espinas, Berukyurosu, and Gurenzeburu.
    • It now looks less emaciated and more bulky.
  • Odibatorasu now uses the Earth element.
  • Hyujikiki now uses the Wind Element.
  • Seregios can now attack Raptors and throw them at hunters.
  • Seregios is no longer weak to Ice, now being weak to Thunder and Dragon.

Snake Wyverns

  • Najarala is no longer weak to Water, now being weak to Ice and Dragon.

Fanged Wyverns

  • Zinogre always breaks down high structures when charging into them.
  • Zinogre is now weak to Dragon as well as Ice.

Brute Wyverns

  • Deviljho's roar now requires HG Earplugs to block.
  • Barroth always breaks down high structures when charging into them.
  • Barroth now uses the Earth element.
  • Deviljho has received a few new changes.
    • It can break down high structures by charging, jumping, or spinning into them.
    • It gains an attack where it smashes its tail onto the ground, causing a tiny earthquake.
    • It gains its combo attack from Frontier.
    • It is no longer weak to Dragon, now being weak to Water and Thunder.
  • Abiorugu can now scrape up chunks of the ground and smack them at a hunter with its tail.
  • Abiorugu gains a pin attack slightly similar to that of Deviljho.
  • Brachydios can break down high structures by jumping into them or detonating them with its slime.

Leviathans

  • Agnaktor/Glacial Agnaktor gains an attack where it digs into the ground, jumps into the ceiling, unearths only its head and neck, and does its famed fire/ice beam attack before going down on the ground.
  • Lagiacrus is now a good fighter on land and an even better fighter in the water.
  • Gobul is now a decent fighter on land and an even better fighter in the water.
  • Nibelsnarf now inflicts Earthblight instead of Waterblight.

Elder Dragons

  • Lao-Shan Lung now has a more interesting fight.
    • It receives a slight design change; its head armor is a little different, its tail tapers much more, it hands look more like those of Komodo Dragons, and its feet are a little different.
    • It doesn't attack much when calm; however, when it is enraged, it will attack more often.
    • When enraged, it rears up, swings its neck, and bites more often.
    • It is now able to swing its neck at hunters on the ground.
    • It is now able to swipe its tail at hunters when they are behind it.
    • This also applies to its subspecies.
  • The Fatalis Brethren have received a few new changes.
    • They receive a slight design change; they now have big wings just as long as their tail, the structure of their heads are a little different, and their feet are a little different.
    • When in Rage Mode, they gain a special growl that inflicts Possession on anyone who is too close to them.
    • They are now able to smash down on the ground and cause a small earthquake.
    • They are now smarter than Berukyurosu and Doragyurosu.
    • They now affect the hunter with Windpress when flying (due to their massive size).
    • Fatalis and Crimson Fatalis have received even more changes.
      • They gain an attack where they fly around the area while breathing fire on hunters.
      • Fatalis has received yet another change.
        • It can now cause Blasblight.
        • It can now appear in the Battlequarters and the Interceptor's Base, and it is capable of destroying many of the small buildings and walls there.
      • Crimson Fatalis now uses its MH4U G-Rank theme as its own theme.
  • Kushala Daora now uses the Wind Element.
  • Lunastra has undergone the same changes Teostra has undergone.

Unclassified Monsters

  • Instead of having 3 quests for each phase, Laviente only has one quest for each phase.
    • To make up for this, Laviente will take a lot more time to repel during its 1st and 2nd phase, and will take even more time to kill during its final phase.

Other

  • ???'s are now renamed to Mystery Dragons.
  • Remobra is now classified as a Flying Wyvern again.
  • Akura Vashimu and Akura Jebia are now reclassified as Temnocerans.
  • All Wyverns now have new changes that complement the 3rd Gen skeleton, such as better feet and wings.
