Hadrogas (ドッシゴン, Dosshigon) is a Brute Wyvern.

Physiology

Hadrogas is a dark gray Brute Wyvern adorned with deep red, scar-like markings and raised, cream-colored scutes located on its body, legs, and tail. On top of its head is a single, large black scute, resembling a sort of helmet. It has small forelimbs with three digits. Its has thick, muscular legs with large feet with four clawed toes. Its tail ends in a white maple leaf-shape with five prongs. Its head is relatively large and its snout is short and rounded.

Abilities

Hadrogas's powerful legs are its main weapons. With its legs it can deliver devastating kicks that are powerful enough to uproot trees. It can also kick rocks like soccer balls at prey or Hunters. Finally, it can use earthshaking stomp attacks that can trip up Hunters and send them flying into the air. It can run for hours on end without stopping to rest.

Habitat

Hadrogas are known to inhabit the Ancestral Steppe, Arctic Ridge, Deserted Island, Frozen Seaway, Gorge, Heaven's Mount, Highland, Sunken Hollow, Tundra, Volcano, and Volcanic Hollow. They prefer to live in rocky, mountainous areas.

Behavior

Hadrogas are typically aggressive and territorial. Males commonly have territorial disputes while females are known to share territories. Males often invade female territories in order to find a potential mate.

Brute Wyverns known for their highly developed legs and feet. A simple step can crush small prey. When provoked, they will unearth large rocks to kick at prey or simply nail enemies with powerful kicks.

Habitat Range

New World Hadrogas inhabit the Deserted Island, Tundra, and Volcano. Old World Hadrogas inhabit the Ancestral Steppe, Arctic Ridge, Frozen Seaway, Gorge, Heaven's Mount, Highland, Sunken Hollow, and the Volcanic Hollow.

Ecological Niche

Hadrogas are powerful predators that make easy prey of Herbivores and smaller lesser predators. They compete with other predators such as Glavenus, Deviljho, Brachydios, Rathalos, Rathian, Astalos, Seregios, and Elder Dragons.

Biological Adaptations

Hadrogas's powerful legs are its main weapons. With its legs it can deliver devastating kicks that are powerful enough to uproot trees. It can also unearth and kick rocks like soccer balls at prey or Hunters. Finally, it can use earthshaking stomp attacks that can trip up Hunters and send them flying into the air. It can run for hours on end without stopping to rest; if a Hadrogas's tail is drooping, it is a signal that it has been running a long time. It can reach a top speed of 60 mph (96.5 km/h).

Notes

  • Hadrogas's design motif was Bigfoot, along with similar cryptids such as the Yeti and Hibagon, Japan's equivalent of Sasquatch.
  • Its name is a combination of the words hadros, Greek for large, and noga, Croation for foot.
  • Should a Hunter be close enough to Hadrogas when it stomps but far away enough to avoid actually being hit, they will be flung into the air and will take no damage.
  • Hadrogas's rock kick attack will inflict different blights depending on what area its in.
  • When in Rage Mode, Hadrogas will huff black smoke.
  • Hadrogas's head can be broken twice and its tail can be severed.
  • Hadrogas's roar requires HG Earplugs to block.
  • Hadrogas's tremors require Tremor Res +1 to block.
