Physiology[]
Tsunami Voluron are larger than normal Voluron. They have similar body structure, but Tsunami Voluron are more muscular, thanks to them hunting more actively than regular Voluron and swimming through water much more often. Its spikes are green and are larger than those of normal Voluron. They are shaped like teeth of a tiger shark with ridges. Whenever these ridges get water coursing over them, they will channel the water to the water sacs under the spikes. The top of the body of a Tsunami Voluron is a dark green and the bottom of the body is a brown-tinted yellow. Its gills glow a dark purple instead of red. Tsunami Voluron's clawspikes are larger and more developed, and have purple tips because the Tsunami Voluron often covers them in poison. The eyes of Tsunami Voluron are a light purple instead of dark green.
Behavior[]
Tsunami Voluron are similarly aggressive to regular Voluron, but they are also territorial, thanks to them living in more populated habitats. Its even more massive size and powerful water-elemental and poisonous attacks allow it to rather easily protect its territory.
While Voluron live in more oceanic or arctic waters, Tsunami Voluron live in more tropical waters.
Ecological Information[]
Placement in Food Chain[]
Tsunami Voluron have been found to occupy a very high position in the food chain thanks to their very large size, incredible physical strength and dangerous elemental powers. They're easily capable of feeding on smaller monsters, especially those they can swallow whole. Tsunami Voluron are also known to feed on other large monsters whenever necessary and only fears other powerful monsters.
Behavior towards Other Monsters[]
Tsunami Voluron will attack small monsters if they wander too close to the massive Leviathan or provoke it, but sometimes the Tsunami Voluron will even attack when this hasn't happened. Tsunami Voluron will also attack other large monsters if they wander into the same area as it. Tsunami Voluron will even challenge other powerful monsters and Elder Dragons.
Tracks[]
Tsunami Voluron can leave behind a large variety of tracks for hunters to utilize in tracking it down. These tracks include "Massive Wet Prints", which can be found on the ground, "Wet Green Scales", which can be found on the ground, "Poison-Leaking Claw Marks", which can be found on the ground or on walls, and "Green Crystalline Fragments", which can be found on the ground.
Specific Locale Interactions[]

Cutscene[]
Hunt Cutscene[]
- Location: Deserted Island
- Synopsis: As the hunter enters Area 10 of the Deserted Island, they notice a dead Purple Ludroth in the middle of the area. The hunter goes to inspect the corpse and notices a large bite mark on the Purple Ludroth. They also notice large claw marks on the Purple Ludroth when suddenly they hear a loud deep growl and water moving. Suddenly a massive monster leaps out of the water towards the hunter, jaws wide open, ready to chomp on the hunter. The hunter leaps out of the way of the massive monster which they immediately notice is the Tsunami Voluron they've been tasked with hunting. Both of them look at each other and the Tsunami Voluron roars, starting the hunt.
Ecology Cutscene[]
- Location: Misty Peaks
- Synopsis: The cutscene starts by showing a bunch of Felynes walking through Area 7 of the Misty Peaks when suddenly they notice a large, almost hill-like object in the middle of the area. The Felynes go to inspect it and climb on top of it. Suddenly they notice it's moving and as one of the Felynes goes to the front of the object they notice it has a face. They realize they're climbing and standing on a Tsunami Voluron. As the Felynes slowly back off, they notice a bunch of Gargwas entering the area from Area 6. As the Gargwa start making some noise, the Felynes try telling them to be quiet. But the Gargwa get scared and suddenly scream loudly, running away. The Tsunami Voluron opens its eyes and starts growling. The Felynes look towards the now awake and angry Tsunami Voluron, scared of what is to come. The Felynes start backing away and the Tsunami Voluron roars loudly. The Felynes decide to run away as fast as possible, leaving the Tsunami Voluron which now goes hunting for food.
Abilities[]
Tsunami Voluron have the same body shape as normal Voluron allowing them to move in the same way, but thanks to being larger and more muscular they can move faster and will hit harder. While Voluron use electricity, Tsunami Voluron use water to hunt their prey and a poison they have developed from eating poisonous monsters. They can even combine these together to create a poisonous water named Hydrotoxin which is very dangerous. While Voluron need to recharge their electrical power by going in a recharge state, Tsunami Voluron won't go in that kind of state, but instead will go to a body of water and make it course over their spikes.
Rage and Tired States[]
- Rage State: It will start drooling poison and using Hydrotoxin attacks which can cause a combination of Severe Waterblight and Noxious Poison. It will also have to refill its water less often.
- Tired State: It will start drooling normally and the top and bottom of its body will become a lighter color. It will also have to refill its water more often.
Frenzy, Apex, Hyper and Tempered[]
Tsunami Voluron can be affected by the Frenzy Virus and get into the Apex State. They are also known to be able to get into the Hyper State.
Frenzied Tsunami Voluron will have to refill its water less often and are capable of using more water-based attacks.
Tempered Tsunami Voluron are considered Threat Lv2 Tempered Monsters and have the usual changes of a Tempered monster. They also have to refill their water less often like Frenzied Tsunami Voluron.
Hyper Tsunami Voluron has the usual changes of a Hyper monster, but it also gains a new attack when enraged. Triple Hydrotoxin Ball: Tsunami Voluron will gather its special poison-water-mix and will then shoot out three hydrotoxin balls in a trident shape which can cause Hydrotoxin. They can also knock hunters back. Hyper Tsunami Voluron have to barely refill their water and they can use a lot more before refilling again.
Apex Tsunami Voluron has the usual changes of an Apex monster, but besides having the attack that Hyper Tsunami Voluron get, they also get a new attack when enraged. Hydrotoxin Wave Barrage: Tsunami Voluron will start gathering a large amount of its special poison-water-mix, signified by a faint purple bulbous shape going up its neck. When the shape reaches its mouth, it will shoot out crescent moon-shaped waves from right to left towards hunters. These can cause Hydrotoxin and also knock hunters away. Apex Tsunami Voluron don't have to refill their water and can thus use an immense amount of them.
Mounts[]
Tsunami Voluron has the same mount animation as Voluron and thus Lagiacrus. Tsunami Voluron can be mounted on its head, its back and its tail.
When Tsunami Voluron is mounted on its head, the hunter will either be located on the back of its head near to where the neck starts or on either side of its neck just after the head ends. The Tsunami Voluron will try to get hunters off by violently shaking its head around, by running or swimming around and by slamming the side of its head into walls or the ground.
When Tsunami Voluron is mounted on its back, the hunter will either be located in between the large spikes on the Tsunami Voluron's back or on either side of its body. The Voluron will try to get hunters off by shaking its body, by running or swimming around, by slamming the side of its body into walls or the ground and by rolling over the ground.
When Tsunami Voluron is mounted on its tail, the hunter will be located just past the large sail on the Tsunami Voluron's tail. The Tsunami Voluron will try to get hunters off by violently shaking its tail around, by running or swimming around and by slamming its tail into the ground or walls.
In-Game Description[]
Ecology[]
Taxonomy[]
- Order: Leviathan
- Suborder: Sea Wyvern
- Infraorder: Ancient Shell Wyvern
- Family: Voluron
Tsunami Voluron are even larger than normal Voluron, making them truly some of the largest Leviathans around, even outsizing Abyssal Lagiacrus in terms of size. Because Tsunami Voluron are a Subspecies of normal Voluron there still doesn't seem to be much connection between other Leviathans, besides Lagiacrus and its subspecies.
Habitat Range[]
Tsunami Voluron are found in a variety of tropical habitats. They are hunt much more in water than regular Voluron. They have been found in the Old Jungle, Jungle, Deserted Island, Flooded Forest, Misty Peaks, Primal Forest, Jurassic Frontier, Sherin Peaks and the Spotted Coast. They have also been found in Extinct Volcano, Lonely Island, Drenched Ravine, Primeval Coastline and the Ruined Temple.
Ecological Niche[]
Tsunami Voluron are at the top of the food chain, thanks to their enormous size, their dangerous poison and their powerful water-element attacks. While Tsunami Voluron will still feed on monsters they can swallow whole, they more often will actually try to hunt larger prey like Purple Ludroth and Rathian. While Tsunami Voluron has a lot of competitors, like Zinogre, Rathalos and Lagiacrus, they will often try to stay away from this titanic Leviathan as it can easily kill them.
Tsunami Voluron doesn't have many predators as even Deviljho will sometimes not approach, but when it does, it will be a brutal battle to the death with more often than not the Deviljho winning these battles. The only things that can hunt a Tsunami Voluron safely are powerful Deviants and Elder Dragons.
Biological Adaptions[]
Tsunami Voluron are very large, dark green Leviathans adapted to hunting and living in and around water, like the normal Voluron. The spikes on the back of Tsunami Voluron are larger than the ones on the back of normal Voluron. The spikes are shaped with ridges on them which guide the water into the holes in the spikes which can be closed if the Tsunami Voluron has gathered enough water. The water gathers into the water sacs in the back of the Tsunami Voluron and some of the water gets transported to a special sac connected to the water and poison sacs, where the water is mixed with poisonous materials to create the hydrotoxin. The clawspikes are larger and more developed than on Voluron which allows it to easily cut through prey and fill it with poison. Tsunami Voluron can also use the poison through its jaws and just like regular Voluron it can split its bottom jaw.
Behavior[]
Tsunami Voluron are very large, aggressive Leviathans which will attack even when not provoked. Tsunami Voluron will use their water to disable their prey, then kill their prey with their poison and then consume it. Sometimes they will just straight-up kill their prey immediately with the poison without trying to disable them.
