Luxacolios have charcoal black skin. Their mantles are spherical, have longitudinal folds, and have columns of white spots around it. They have eight arms, each of which has two rows of suckers. Each arm has a white spiral that runs down the length, and have a bulbous tip. Beneath the head is a long, sharp beak.
Abilities[]
Luxacolios can produce light from the tips of its arms and the white spots on its mantle. This light is mostly used for luring prey closer so that the Mollusk can catch it with its arms. It can produce a bright flash of light from its body, blinding anything with several feet of it. The arms can also generate electricity, acting similar to taser as Luxacolios puts its arms up against enemies to shock them. They can also produce a toxic ink.
Ecology[]
Information[]
Luxacolios
Mollusks that can produce light and electricity from specialized organs on their arms and mantles. It pushes the tips of its arms against its foes and then lets loose a high-voltage current. They can also spray a toxic ink should their electricity not be enough to get the job done.
Habitat Range[]
Luxacolios are known to live deep in the ocean, but occasionally travel to the surface and even onto land in search of food. They have recently been sighted in the Deserted Island and Flooded Forest.
Ecological Niche[]
Luxacolios are carnivorous and feed on a variety of aquatic prey. Their diet is said to consist of Epioth, Ludroth, Slagtoth, Bullfango, Daimyo Hermitaur, and Plesioth. They compete with other large predators such as Lagiacrus, Royal Ludroth, Gobul, Shogun Ceanataur, Rathalos, Rathian, Deviljho, and Nargacuga.
Biological Adaptations[]
The tips of Luxacolios's arms are bulbous in shape and contain photophores, which are light producing organs. Similar glands are found on its mantle. Using these organs, it creates dazzling lights to lure prey towards it. Once prey is within reach, it electrifies its arms and shocks the prey by whipping it, stunning it and allowing the Mollusk to eat. When they feel threatened, they produce a bright flash of light using all of the photophores on its body, blinding any creature near it and allowing it to escape. Venom glands located in its body produce venomous ink and saliva.
Behavior[]
Luxacolios are not inherently aggressive but are very curious creatures. They like to explore their surroundings and often use shells and rocks to decorate their nests.
Etymology[]
The English name Luxacolios is derived from the Latin word lux, meaning light. The Japanese name Dentakoshuso is a combination of the Japanese words for light, octopus, and tentacle.
