The Emperor Abitaur is a powerful Carapaceon first introduced in Monster Hunter Y. It can be fought in High Rank, Gou Rank, and G Rank Quests.

Physiology

Emperor Abitaur possesses a lot of anatomical features recognized in a variety of crustaceans. It has the body, head, shell, and legs of a coconut crab, the large claws of a pistol shrimp, and the broad flippers of a blue crab; as well as this, it has the skull of a Ceadeus on its back. It is light brown in color, with black eyes, a glowing golden yellow shell, and striped antenna; when it is enraged, its brown skin turns black, its claws and shell turn red, the dark brown stripes on its antenna turn blue and look as if they were moving, and the orbits in its Ceadeus skull will start to glow red.

Habitat

It likes to reside in the Underwater Ruin, but it can be found in the Deserted Island as well.

Attacks

Claw Swipe: Emperor Abitaur will swipe its claw at a hunter. This attack is powerful.

Multiple Claw Swipes: Emperor Abitaur will scuttle from side to side while swiping its claws at hunters. Each claw swipe is very powerful.

Taunt: Emperor Abitaur will extend its claws forward while snapping them. This attack does no damage.

Block: Emperor Abitaur will guard the front of its body with its massive claws for 10 seconds. This attack is harmless.

Flipper Jump: Emperor Abitaur will use its flippers to propel itself upwards before falling down to the seafloor. This attack does moderate damage.

Turning Horn: Emperor Abitaur will turn around, using the horns on its Ceadeus skull to hit hunters. This attack is powerful.

Roundhouse Horn: Emperor Abitaur will jump up in the water before spinning around, using the horns on its Ceadeus skull to hit hunters. This attack is powerful.

Water Beam: Emperor Abitaur will spread out its claws before shooting a beam of water from its mouth. This attack inflicts Waterblight.

Explosion Shot: Emperor Abitaur will open its claws very widely before snapping them very quickly, shooting forth a blast of bubbles that collapse and cause an explosion. This attack is powerful.

Double Explosion Shot: Emperor Abitaur will perform its Explosion Shot attack two times. This attack is dangerous, as it can cause an OHKO.

Gunpowder Bubbles: Emperor Abitaur will rapidly snap its claws 3 times before swiping them forward, sending forth orange bubbles. If the bubbles hit a hunter, he/she will be inflicted with Blastblight.

Burrowing Claw: Emperor Abitaur will dig into the ground and burrow around the ground and walls for a limited time. Every 7 seconds it's burrowing, its claw will shoot out of the ground/walls and attempt to grab a hunter; if the claw manages to grab him/her, he/she will be pulled into the ground and be dealt an OHKO. At the end of the attack, Emperor Abitaur will vault out of the ground, dealing a lot of damage to anything in its path.

Turning Water Beam: Emperor Abitaur will raise its body up before spraying a beam of water in a 360 degree angle. This attack inflicts Waterblight.

Sideways Water Beam: Emperor Abitaur will perform its Water Beam attack while scuttling sideways. This attack inflicts Waterblight; as well as this, it is commonly followed up with a Taunt, but has a chance to follow up with Gunpowder Bubbles.

Pistol Claws: Emperor Abitaur will raise its claws up into the air and start violently snapping them while turning around, sending forth many explosion shots. This attack is dangerous, as it can cause hunters to faint if they're caught in the attack and on 75% health.

Claw Bash: Emperor Abitaur will raise its claws before smashing them down on the ground. This causes a tiny earthquake, deals a lot of damage to hunters who are touching it, and inflicts Stun.

Jumping Claw Attack: (G Rank Only): Emperor Abitaur will jump up in the water before attempting to smack nearby hunters with its claws. After that, it will attempt to damage them even more with an explosion shot. This attack is dangerous, as it can cause hunters to faint if they're caught in the attack.

Mine Bubbles (G Rank Only): Emperor Abitaur will rapidly snap its claws 3 times before swiping them forward, sending forth orange Blastblight bubbles; it will then attempt to detonate the bubbles with an explosion shot. This attack is powerful.

Intro

Quest: The Shiny Skull

Location: Underwater Ruin

Synopsis: In the Underwater Ruin, all seems peaceful. However, the entire place suddenly starts to quake, and a massive claw comes shooting out of the walls right before sinking back in. Later, a giant, bulky Carapaceon barrels out of the ground and sinks to the seafloor. The Carapaceon snaps its claws three times and sends forth orange, explosive bubbles, right before turning around and shooting forth a blast of bubbles that collapse and explode. After the bubbles explode, the Carapaceon taunts.
