Cervidrome (ドスシカ, Dosushika) are Fanged Beasts

Physiology

Cervidrome strongly resemble deers. They have brown fur with a gray stripe running along its spine. On its chest is a tuft of fur. It has a slim, fluffy tail where the gray stripes ends. Their spiked antlers are more reminiscent of moose antlers with a palmate shape.

Abilities

Cervidrome use their antlers like shovels or spades to lift large chunks of dirt or snow and tossing them at attackers. Utilizing its powerful hooves, Cervidrome can crush rocks to send shards flying to damage enemies, or just to trample Hunters.

Behavior

Cervidrome are solitary monsters and do not form herds. Although generally slow-moving and sedentary, Cervidrome can become aggressive and move quickly if angered or startled.

Habitat

Cervidrome can be found in the Forest and Hills, Frozen Seaway, Great Forest, Snowy Mountains, and Tundra.

Ecology

Information

Fanged Beasts known for their large antlers. These antlers functions as shovels and are used to move around dirt and snow in search of food. They double as weapons to fend off predators.

Taxonomy

  • Order: Artiodactyla
  • Family: Cervid

Cervidrome are a species of Fanged Beast.

Habitat Range

Old World Cervidrome inhabit the Arctic Ridge, Frozen Seaway, and Verdant Hills. New World Cervidrome inhabit the Deserted Island and Tundra.

Ecological Niche

Cervidrome are primarily herbivores, feeding on bushes, berries, roots, and other vegetation. They also eat wood, scraping bark off of trees with their antlers. Though Cervidrome have little to fear, they have to live in locations home to large predators like Rathalos, Rathian, Nargacuga, Tigrex, Barioth, Gigginox, Khezu, Seregios, Astalos, Brachydios, Deviljho, Plesioth, Zinogre, Zamtrios, Blangonga, Rajang, and Elder Dragons.

Biological Adaptations

Cervidrome's main features are its large moose-like antlers. These antlers serve as both a tool and a weapon. As a tool, the antlers are used to move aside snow and soil in search of food and also scrape off wood from trees. As a weapon, the antlers, being both hard and sharp, are used to fling rocks or snowballs to drive away attackers.

Behavior

Cervidrome are solitary monsters and do not form herds. Although generally slow-moving and sedentary, Cervidrome can become aggressive and move quickly if angered or startled.

Notes

  • The name Cervidrome is a combination of the family Cervidae and the suffix -drome, which is common in the name of many monsters.
  • Cervidrome draws inspiration from many species of deer, namely reindeer (also known as caribou), elks, and moose.
  • Cervidrome's antlers and hooves can be broken.
  • When low on Stamina, Cervidrome will fail to perform its antler attacks and will trip if it charges the Hunter.
    • To regain stamina, Cervidrome will eat from a planet gathering spot.
